Wedding Photography: Selecting a Photographer
by mitsuko ladymon - Monday, 12 May 2008, 11:33 PM
Anyone in the world

By Michelle Davis Wedding photography is one of the most important roles that will occur at your wedding. It is
also the best way you can preserve those wedding memories forever. You want to make sure the photographer will do a great job, so selecting the perfect one is important. If you have to cut down on what you spend in your wedding, this is not the place to slash your costs. You want to make sure that you get the best wedding pictures possible and that your photographer is a professional. One way you can make sure that you get a great photographer is to talk to your friends and
relatives who have been married recently. Many times they will have suggestions and let you in
on how their photographer performed. If you are thinking of trying a photographer that you are
not familiar with, you may want to check around and see what others have to say about their
work. If you hear any horror stories, you would be best to keep on searching. Style Counts When you are picking someone to do your wedding photography, you will want to see the
pictures that they have taken in the past. Unless you know the photographer well, you might not want to pick someone who is just starting out. By looking at their portfolio of pictures, you can get a sense of their style and the work that they do. Look for special poses that strike your fancy and make sure the photographer's style blends with yours. Price is always an issue when you are considering wedding photography. You may want to check with various photographers to see who can offer you the best prices. When you are comparing prices you can also see what the packages offer with the related prices. While some prices may seem a bit higher than others, often it is because the package offers more features like extra pictures or even video of your ceremony. Whoever your choose, make sure that you are getting real value for your money. Black and White Photos When deciding on a photographer, you will want to consider what exactly you want at your
wedding. Do you want special photos like black and white pictures, or would you like video
taken at your wedding. Are there special poses that you want taken or special moments that you want specifically captured. If you have specific needs for the wedding, you must discuss them with the photographer. For
example, do you want to have video footage at your wedding? You will want to hire someone
else if the photographer cannot do this for you. Or, you can hire someone else to do the video
separately. Remember that this is your wedding and preserving this day is important. You want a
photographer who will capture your day for you and do it on your terms. If the photographer
seems overbearing or will not listen to you and what you want, then you need to choose someone else for your wedding photography. Funerals - What is Cremation?
by mitsuko ladymon - Sunday, 4 May 2008, 08:00 PM
Anyone in the world

By Michael Russell Most adults today know that a person can be buried or they can be cremated once they have died. A burial is a fairly straightforward process and this is something that most children have knowledge of. But a cremation can be something that puzzles family members, incurring more questions than answers. This article serves to give answers to those questions. Cremation is the process of using intense heat to reduce the body to bone fragments and ashes. It normally takes two to four hours for this process to be completed. The cremated remains weigh three to nine pounds, depending on the size of the body. There appears to be a trend toward cremation, particularly on the West and East Coasts. People choose cremation because of the expense of traditional funerals, the diminishing space for cemeteries and the environmental concerns. In England and Japan the cremation rate is 90%, partly because cemetery space is at a premium price. Caskets are not required for a cremation. But there is a requirement that the body be enclosed in a rigid container. Mortuaries must have an unfinished wooden box or similar cremation container available to their customers. Alternately, customers may furnish their own container. The costs of a cremation range in price. If the family uses an undertaker to take care of all services, from transporting the body, obtaining permits and filing the death certificate, the fee can be in the thousands of dollars. On the other hand, many licensed funeral homes that care for their own dead can use crematories at charges from under $300. There are a couple ways to have the funeral service. You may opt to have the visitation and funeral service with the body present, prior to cremation. Some mortuaries will rent a casket to the family. After the service, the body is transferred to an inexpensive cremation container. Many find it helpful to have a memorial service without the body present. This option is less costly and friends and family members appreciate this opportunity to pay tribute to the memory of the loved one. People have many choices regarding what to do with the cremated remains. They can be placed in a niche in a columbarium, buried, scattered, or kept by the family. A columbarium is a set of niches that are designed to hold containers of cremated remains. These are usually located in the mausoleum with a cemetery. You can sometimes find niches within churches to hold the remains. The remains are sterile and do not pose a health hazard. You do not have to purchase an urn for the cremated remains. The remains are returned to a metal, plastic, or cardboard container that is adequate for burial, shipping, or placing in a columbarium. But the family may prefer a more aesthetic urn. Religions vary regarding cremation. The Roman Catholics give their members a choice between burial and cremation. The Greek and Jewish Orthodox faiths oppose cremation. If you are particularly religious, it would behove you to investigate how your religion views cremation. How to Grow Squashes!
by mitsuko ladymon - Tuesday, 29 April 2008, 10:22 AM
Anyone in the world

By Terry Blackburn Growing Squashes The squash is a firm fleshy vegetable not used in this country nearly enough. It is in the gaud section of the cucumber family, which includes marrows, courgettes and pumpkins. They come in many shapes, flavours and colours. There are some wonderful recipes that can be made from squashes. As a vegetable it can be eaten raw in salads, it can be boiled, baked, fried, grilled and roasted. It has a delicate flavour so can be cooked with herbs to add variety. Squash is an easy crop to grow and they are exciting too because of their rapid growth. There are two types, bush and trailing and there are those who are grown in the summer who's fruits are harvested when they are ready and the winter squashes that are allowed to grow until they are their full size, then harvested, stored in a dry, frost-free shed to be used when required. However, in this country growing them over winter can have its difficulties due to the fact that the squash is not hardy, so I think that if you decide to grow this vegetable it should be one of the summer varieties you should go for. Soil Preparation Squashes prefer heavier soils; they do best in positions where there is shelter from cold winds and they must have a sunny site. When preparing the ground, add plenty of manure and compost where the plants are to grow; this should be dug into the ground quite deeply about 9 in. (228mm). Begin by digging a trench 9 in. (228mm) deep put in the manure then dig another putting the soil from this into the first trench. This will form a ridge. The squashes can be planted into the ridges, 6 ft. (180cm) apart for the trailing varieties, 4 ft. (120cm) apart for the bush types. Sowing For best results sow three-year-old seed, this will help ensure that the plants produce a greater proportion of female blooms. It is much better to buy your seed from a supplier rather than saving your own. This will ensure that they are virus free and also importantly that they come true. There are very few seeds in a packet but will be ample for most gardeners. Sow the seed during April in John Innes seed compost, 1 in. (25mm) deep, on their sides in 3 in. (76mm) pots in a greenhouse or warm windowsill at a temperature of about 50 deg. F. (10 deg C.). Put two seeds into the pot, the weaker one can be removed if they both germinate. Harden off the young plants by putting them into cold frames at the end of May. Plant them out after about two or three weeks along the ridges when the chance of frost has passed. Planting Water the pots well before planting out. Avoid holding the plants by their stems as they are easily bruised causing them irreparable damage. If the weather is cool cover each plant with a cloche for the first week to give them a little warmth and protection. As an individual plant protector I find one of the best methods is to use a cut down, clear plastic 5 litre mineral bottle, the top half of the bottle makes excellent cloche. Whilst giving protection at the same time it allows air and moisture through the neck of the bottle into the plant. General care Trailing varieties should have the tip of the main shoot pinched back by an inch when they are 1 ft. (45cm) long, this encourages the formation of side growth (laterals) on which the bulk of the female flowers will be borne. As the plants grow they will require extra manure and compost; this should be given as mulch around the base of each plant. For extra protection against the surface roots from drying out, grass clippings can also be used as mulch. Marrows require plenty of water so that they are able to grow and fully develop, soak the roots thoroughly and regularly. On the other hand, in very wet weather too much trailing leafy growth may result, in which case clip back the shoots to allow more air to circulate around the flowers and developing fruits. They are generally trouble free if the summer is a good one but slugs can sometimes be a problem; to be on the safe side position a few slug traps around the base of the plants Harvesting In a good summer, squashes can often be cut in late August; keep cutting them when they are young and the plants will continue cropping until well into September. If the intention is to store some for winter use, leave the fruits on the plant until October. Terry Blackburn. Internet Marketing Consultant, living in South Shields in the North-East of England. What Mothers are Finding Out about Paxil
by mitsuko ladymon - Sunday, 27 April 2008, 05:08 AM
Anyone in the world

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=N._Johnson] N. Johnson Does your son or daughter take Paxil? Has your son or daughter been hurt, injured, harmed, or even died as a result of taking Paxil? If so, it is time that you find out what mothers are starting to find out about the antidepressant drug called Paxil. Today, mothers are finding out that Paxil was never intended to be used as an antidepressant in children under the age of eighteen years old. There are many lawsuits against the GlaxoSmithKline Company, the manufacturers of Paxil; because it is believed that they may have hidden or misrepresented vital information about the possible side effects that Paxil could have on children under the age of eighteen years old. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has never approved the use of Paxil among children and has posted several warnings that the use of Paxil could result in increased suicidal and violent thoughts, cardiac problems, respiratory problems, and other side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, tremors, and insomnia in children and it could have even more drastic effects on mothers-to-be. Research has proven and shown that mothers who took Paxil during their pregnancy had a higher risk of cardiac, respiratory, and other birth defects. The FDA reported that mothers who took Paxil during the first trimester (the first 12 weeks) of the pregnancy increased the risk by double of experiencing some form of birth defect or complication as a result of taking the drug. Many doctors do not tell their patients that the use of Paxil was never recommended for children or pregnant mothers. Many doctors prescribe Paxil by using their professional judgment. Therefore, if your son or daughter is taking or has been given a prescription for Paxil by a doctor, it is a good idea to contact a Paxil lawyer to discuss the possible problems that may arise. There are Paxil lawyers available to explain the effects of Paxil on some patients and what your legal rights are in regards to the complications resulting from the use of this medication. Many mothers are finding this information out too late. So, be wise. Investigate your childs Paxil medication before it is too late. There are other antidepressant medications that are more effective and safer for children. Paxil is not recommended for children under the age of eighteen, so think twice before your child becomes a Paxil victim. If you have any questions, contact a Paxil Lawyer today. How to Turn Sex into True Romance
by mitsuko ladymon - Monday, 21 April 2008, 05:04 PM
Anyone in the world

By Jim Hinds Our American culture has a wonderful, wacky idea of romance: It's got "Heart-Throbs," "Cheatin' Hearts," "The War of the Roses," MatchMaking services and "compatibility profiles", "one-night-stands." And that just seems to be the good part! There must be something better! We have a strange fixation with sex being the same as romance. When I introduce romance in a talk, I am suddenly confronted with two kinds of people: Those who are afraid I'll only talk about sex, and those who only want me to talk about sex! These people are trying to drive a car with the headlights shining directly into their eyes! Some are trying to avoid the light in their eyes, and some are mesmerized by the light in their eyes. But really, we want to turn the lights around and get on with driving the car! You might safer and get farther that way, don't you think? A first course in Romance requires that we talk about the fundamentals of a successful and enduring romance.

Passion of attraction. These are the headlights we mentioned above. This is also the gas in the tank and the steam in the pipes! Yup, it's sex, It's your bliss, It's what makes your eyes light up. You know what it is for you. You must also know what it is for your partner.
Compatible Values. You and your partner need to share some values. If not at first, you must be highly motivated to adapt your values to hers. Do you want children? Is a nuclear family important? What about extended family? Religion? Political affiliation? Need for social life? Need for "down-time?" Find out the answers from your point of view first: before you get into a relationship, if not sooner. Then make sure you find out what your partner's values are. And don't just take their word for it: for example, If the topic is an extended family, it is just possible that your partner may have never really thought about having an extended family and may not really be able to answer, and may say "yes" or "no" out of just trying to be "nice". If this happens, just be patient let things unfold as they will. Very often, young couples may think they do not want children, but a couple of years later, that perspective may change completely and totally.
Communication. Everything is OK to talk about. If there is positive and supportive energy from your partner, then it is completely all right to talk through any subject. If things get rocky in the communication department, it is a sure sign that there are some values that are not working together. Either yours or his. You can work on your own values - then it is easier to allow your partner to work on his. Don't expect him to change, especially if he has trouble in even understanding your values.
Right Action. This is especially important. It builds trust. When there is a value mismatch, you must discern what is the right thing to do you must communicate it and then you must do it. From your partner's viewpoint an unkept promise is a broken communication and a false value. But each time you keep faithful to your promise and deliver, it acts as part of a bridge to your future.
Vows and Goals. A vow is your statement of your intent to follow down the path to your goal. It gives you a framework for getting to the destination of your romance. You should think of it as a one-sided contract. It is your vow to yourself as well as a vow to your partner. And it should not be broken even if your partner may fail in living up to the vows he may make. Broken vows could be a sign of false expectations rather than incompatible values
These five elements are continually intertwined in a living breathing romance. Good communication makes the sex better, Good sex makes it more important to get your mutual values straight. Getting your values aligned makes it easier to take the right action and keep your vows. Each part supports the others. Each part supports the romance. Romance is the dance of life! Enjoy the dance. Live. OK, so how do you get your values aligned, your communication fluent, your actions right? These are all the emotional domain of the inner person. The sages throughout all the ages have come up with many techniques to help you. You can find these in self-help books, psychological professionals, religion and spiritual sources, hypnotherapy or NLP. Use the gift of celarien in your life. Celarien essentially means "emotional ecology." It's when you learn to use your emotions give support to yourself and others --- It's good ecology. When you have celarien, your romance is a positive abundant and central part of your life. It is when you have that experience of emotional "a-ha!" It is when useless emotions and concepts fall away and are replaced by those that support you to the full magnificence and miracle that you really are. That's when you and your romance can really blossom. Jim Hinds has been a practicing hypnotherapist in Honolulu, HI since 1998. The Dangerous Price of Preferring Fantasy
by mitsuko ladymon - Sunday, 20 April 2008, 06:28 AM
Anyone in the world

By Jim Sniechowski Romantic fantasies, like drugs and alcohol, offer the hope of getting what you believe you cant get on your own. Also like drugs they are temporary and never ultimately satisfying. When the spell dissolves, youre lost in the pit of heartbreak, shortchanged by life yet again. On the other hand, when fantasy is not a substitute for reality, it can be a playful source of pleasure. You can slip beyond the limits of daily life and play in a make-believe world. You get to go anywhere, be anyone and experience anything you like. However, enjoying romantic fantasies is one thing. Preferring them over reality is quite another. Thats a crucial distinction. When you expect your fantasy to come true in reality, bitterness and recrimination will routinely be part of the package. Remember, reality can be overwhelmed when it has to compete with the perfection of fantasy. When reality fails, disappointed love often turns vicious. Have you ever physically or emotionally hurt someone just because she or he failed to match your dream of the perfect lover? Have you ever suffered the failure of not living up to
someone else's dream image of the perfect love? We ask these questions during our trainings, and, without exception, the majority of both men and women confess they have experienced both sides of this problem. Chances are, you have too. Then, when a real life relationship makes its inevitable demands, you shrink from a feeling of personal inadequacy, afraid you wont be
enough, afraid you will come up short. The trance of romance is deadly. When were caught, we reject what is, preferring what should be." How to Be Healthier and Happier at Work
by mitsuko ladymon - Thursday, 17 April 2008, 12:33 PM
Anyone in the world

By Lorraine Pirihi Many office-based workers do not realise that the environment they spend a majority of their working week in, may not be good for their health. Have you ever experienced headaches, respiratory infections, asthma or fatigue? Do these ailments occur at work? What happens when you go on holiday or at the weekends, do they still occur or do they miraculously disappear? Youll often find peoples desk drawers contain a variety of pills and potions to alleviate the ailments they experience at work. Johns Story John commenced work in a large open plan office a few months ago. He had been promoted from Team Leader in another division to the Manager of this new department. Since that time he has been continually unwell. He went on holiday for two weeks and all his ailments disappeared. A week later he returned to work and again he became sick. This of course greatly affected his productivity because when you feel unwell you dont feel like doing much workno matter how motivated you usually are. Further investigation revealed that absenteeism in this department was high. People would often be away sick. John discovered the whole office had not had a thorough clean in two yearsthe carpet needed steam cleaning, the blinds had spider webs and thick dust, the partitions which divided the workstations had never been vacuumed. John immediately organised for the entire office to be cleaned from floor to ceiling. I also suggested that he contact the local nursery to install plants in specific areas. Not only do plants make the environment look good, they assist with air filtration. When I spoke to John again, he said he was feeling much better and so did many of his colleagues! Robyns Story Robyn is the Human Resources Manager in a computer company. She began experiencing bad asthma attacks since moving to her open plan area. She discovered that the office partitions had never been cleaned since their installation many years ago. The dust was exacerbating her condition. She has since had them thoroughly cleaned and her asthma has subsided! Sallys Story At an on-site workshop I ran for a telecommunications company, one of the participants told us that her previous employer made a cost-cutting decision to remove all the plants from the office. They had a contract with a plantscaping organisation and thought this would be an easy way to save money. Within 6 weeks there was a noticeable increase in absenteeism through sickness. (And there wasnt a flu epidemic at that time). Save Time, Save Money, Save Yourself If you want to save time and money and most importantly your health, look at the environment you work in. Check out some of these areas and ask yourself or whoever is the most appropriate person: When was the last time the following was cleaned and is there an ongoing maintenance programme ? Ducted heating Air-conditioning Fans Caf Units Curtains/Blinds Floor Windows/walls Computers/keyboards Workstations Empower Yourself Here are a few preventative measures you can take to ensure you remain healthy and happy at work. Leave the office Go for a walk at lunchtime; get some fresh air in your tea breaks. and you dont have to have a cigarette as an excuse to go outside. Ensure your work area is cleaned regularly Dont wait for the cleaners to do it. Clean your desk; vacuum the area, including the partitions and blinds. Live Plants Place live plants near office equipment photocopiers, computers, printers etc. Plants help filter the air. Exercise regularly and eat healthily If you want to keep fit and stay alivejust do it! Electric Oil Burners Use an electric oil burner and suitable essential oils to improve your productivity and enhance the environment For more ideas on how to have a healthier and happier workplace see our e-book Get Organised Get A LIFE! The Final Word When youre busy being busy, you often overlook the little things that make a huge impact on your productivity. You have every right to work in a safe and healthy environment. If "the powers to be" are serious about the health and welfare of their employees then these issues need to be addressed. If no-one will to take responsibility and the appropriate action, then you take control and do what you can yourself. The History Of Medical Scrubs
by mitsuko ladymon - Monday, 14 April 2008, 06:32 PM
Anyone in the world

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Gabriel_J._Adams] Gabriel J. Adams If I asked you to picture a surgeon in your mind's eye, you almost certainly would picture an individual in medical scrubs (most likely white or green scrubs), wearing a mask, etc. But it hasn't always been that way. Medical scrubs are actually a relatively modern practice. Until the 20th century, surgery was (compared to today's standards) a rather crude operation, which did not really involve any sanitation, least of all anything like medical scrubs. Sterilization was not even a consideration, because there was really no understanding of how disease and germs spread. Many scientists believed in spontaneous generation, meaning that germs spontaneously generated from nothing. Little or no consideration was given to basic sanitation, so the mortality rate was very high. Actually, many surgeons wore a butcher's apron, and since they did not don a clean one between patients, it would become very soiled by blood and fluids. So a dirty apron was just meant a busy surgeon. Around 1920, sanitation methods began to be employed in the operating room. By the 1940's, an increased understanding of operation sanitation motivated the introduction of sanitary drapes and attire for the medical personnel. Originally, the scrubs were white, to emphasize and display their cleanliness. However, this presented several problems. First of all, red blood splotches were quite unsightly on white clothing. Also, the all white clothing, when coupled with bright lighting, cause eye strain. So they began switching from white to green clothing. By the 1970's, scrubs had largely become what they are today: a short sleeve shirt and drawstring pants, in most cases, made of green cotton. All medical scrubs are not green, though. Many hospitals color code their uniforms according to departments. For example, Emergency Room staff would wear pink, Surgery staff would wear green, and Labor and Delivery Room staff would wear blue. Or, in university hospitals, the staff may wear colors corresponding to the school colors. Visit [http://www.scrubsgallery.com] http://www.scrubsgallery.com and save cash on your scrubs. New Year Resolution - Part 3
by mitsuko ladymon - Friday, 11 April 2008, 12:24 PM
Anyone in the world

By Tracie Johanson In this five-part series of articles we've been talking about New Year Resolutions. We've already covered how to write them and also long-term vs. short-term goals. In this article we're going to take a look at the EXERCISE in a New Year Resolution. We firmly believe that a successful resolution MUST INCLUDE EXERCISE. Is it possible to lose weight through dieting alone? Yes. Is it possible to maintain a lower weight through dieting alone? Again, the answer is yes. But is weight loss through dieting a healthy weight loss? Probably not. Let's look at why..... The #1 reason why dieting alone will not lead to a HEALTHY weight for life is that when we diet without exercising (specifically, resistance exercise) UP TO 50% OF THE WEIGHT WE LOSE WILL BE MUSCLE MASS. Now, this will vary from person to person based on genetics, age, sex, hormone levels, etc. but an average is that 1/2 of the weight we lose on that crash diet is from muscle loss. Why does that matter? Well, there's a lot of reasons. Here are just two: 1) Muscle is more dense than fat (takes up less space), so losing muscle vs. losing only fat means that while the weight may come off the inch loss will be slower. Losing five pounds of fat will make us lose more inches (size) than losing 2 pounds of fat and 3 pounds of muscle. 2) Another reason why losing muscle is bad is that muscle is the fat-burning furnace of the body! It's a well-documented fact that 1 pound of muscle burns about 50 calories more each day than 1 pound of fat. Muscle is an active part of the body, generating movement and burning fat. On the other hand, fat is really just a storage unit for excess calories. Fat doesn't DO much of anything, and therefore doesn't burn calories like muscle. So, every time we lose 1 pound of muscle we are forcing our body to burn fewer calories each day. As we age, we all lose some muscle naturally. That's a fact we can't change. But why speed things up by dieting without exercising? Muscle helps us balance, protects our bones, makes us look lean and firm, gives us strength for life, and burns calories. So it's easy to see that our New Year Resolution should include EXERCISE and not just dieting. It's not an exaggeration to say that the reason many (most?) people fail with their New Year Weight-Loss Resolution is that they don't include exercise. It seems easier to try yet another diet, hoping that this year will be different. Well, now we know the facts! The facts are that dieting without exercise (specifically, resistance exercise) will lead to muscle loss! Losing muscle means that we are burning FEWER calories each day.....and guess what.....burning fewer calories each day means that it's harder to lose weight (fat)! This process of going on a crash diet, losing muscle, putting the weight back on, going on another crash diet, losing more muscle.....etc.....is known as yo-yo dieting. It's the reason why so many New Year Weight-Loss Resolutions will fail this year. Let's be different. Let's be SMART. Let's exercise! * Copyright 2005 Pick Up The Pace.
