A Time for Change in Career
by mitsuko ladymon - Tuesday, 25 March 2008, 02:36 PM
Anyone in the world

By David Woody There are very few careers in today's working environment which can safely be thought of as being 'permanent'. Shifts in world trade, competition from Third World countries, the decline of manufacturing and traditional industries in the UK, and the rise of the service sector have already made an impact on the range of careers and jobs available. The unknown quantities of the engineering East European economics and the effects of closer integration within the EU will impact further in the future. Other factors are also playing their part: the rapid expansion of technology into almost every workplace; the increased emphasis on value for money, demands for greater productivity, and the need for a more flexible, multi-skilled workforce. Changing direction can be like taking a leap into the dark: perilous and often frightening. On the one hand you can be forced into the situation by cutbacks in staffing levels or the closure of a business, whether this is your own or someone else's. Alternatively, you may take the initiative yourself to make the break from a job which has ceased to have any real meaning for you. Either way, you are almost certain to feel anxious about the future. Gone are the old certainties. Organisations and businesses have been forced to restructure and reshape to survive. Whole layers of management and large numbers of ordinary run-of-the-mill jobs have disappeared. Short-term contracts, part-time working, job-sharing, home-working, annual hours and a range of other formats are increasingly replacing the rigid structures of yesteryear. Change is everywhere and shows no sign of slowing down. Hundreds of thousands of people are having to rethink their working lives. For those just starting out there is the likelihood of facing not just one, but possibly 2 career changes before they retire. More information on Careers and training are available on the Careerlog website. Job vacancies and entry requirements along with career paths and training opportunities are all available free. How To Find The Perfect Birthday Gift
by mitsuko ladymon - Sunday, 23 March 2008, 11:33 AM
Anyone in the world

By Claire Calkin Most of us frequently if not all the time are short of good birthday gift ideas. Regardless of who the intended recipient is, whether it is a brother, sister, mum, dad, grandparent or in-law, often we all end up frantically searching through shopping malls for the elusive perfect birthday gift. All too often unfortunately, all these stores seem to stock only products that fall into one of three categories they are either unsuitable, overpriced or impractical. So when you are looking for birthday gift ideas it can help to bear in mind the following points. Firstly, does the recipient deserve the efforts you are going to find them a gift? If they are a passing acquaintance or you find them disagreeable, then perhaps a gift is not necessary. If the person does deserve a gift, you should determine to what extent you want to go to for them. Are they worthy of you trudging through a crowded shopping mall for? Quite often, the quest for good birthday gift ideas can take longer than initially envisioned, so it is important that you only extent this for gifts for the people most important to you. DETERMINING SUITABLE BIRTHDAY GIFT IDEAS Often, before setting out on a shopping expedition to the mall, or online, it is good to have a think about your intended recipient. What are their interests? Have they been dropping any subtle hints about something they may particularly want or need? In some cases, you are geographically distant from the recipient, so it may be hard to determine quite what they may be looking for in a gift. However generally you will have at least a rudimentary knowledge of the person interests and what they like. You should also determine prior what your budget is for the gift, and stick to this. While you are likely to see otherwise suitable gifts outside of your budget, you should stick to your original budget lest exceeding it should cause consternation. When it comes to choosing from different gifts you should always consider whether the item in question is most suited to your recipient. Some of the questions to ask of the prospective gift include, Is it in some way useful? Could it bring the recipient enjoyment? And perhaps most importantly, is it something I would like to receive myself? If the gift meets these criteria and fits within the budget, then chances are it is entirely suitable. VOUCHERS / MONEY VERSUS GIFTS Many people tend to give vouchers or money rather than a physical gift. The reasoning behind this is that it allows the recipient to spend the money as they see fit on a gift that they will surely like. The advantages for the gift giver is that it is a somewhat faster process than trudging through a mall trying to locate a suitable physical gift, and they can console themselves with the thought that they have given something of true value to the recipient. In many cases however, the reverse of these objectives is achieved. Often, the recipient may while grateful for a gift in the first place may consider voucher or money as the easy way out, in that the person who gave them the item did not think it worth the time or effort to locate a physical gift. The reality is, once received, money and vouchers are rather easily dispensed with, and for the recipient it is difficult to relate the fruits of the money or vouchers to the person This said, certainly there are places for the gifting or money or vouchers specifically to those located abroad or who are otherwise geographically distant. BUY IN ADVANCE The reasons to buy presents in advance greatly out weight the reasons not to. When you begin preparing for birthdays and Christmas at the start of the year you can buy presents that are less expensive, more thought out, less stressful experiences and more time to relax. If you leave present shopping until a few days before, you will have to pay the price the retailer asks for a particular item instead of buying it when it was on sale a few months earlier. Especially with Christmas, this season can be stressful and it takes time and money to buy all the presents required in only a few days. Waiting in long queues is no fun either. It is ideal to buy presents ahead as you can spend more time on this present, less money and get them something they will really appreciate. It is great to shop around over the course of year to find gifts to suit everyone in your family. You can buy them on sale then store them safely away in the closet until it is time to bring them out. About The Author

Why Have Guilt? Shelve It! Live Without Fear and Greed
by mitsuko ladymon - Thursday, 20 March 2008, 12:38 AM
Anyone in the world

By Prince Chugh What is guilt and why do we have it? This is a question of gravity and very often we get entangled in understanding its intricacies. The discomfort of our conscience is the guilt. Our conscience decides the ideals we choose to uphold in the course of life. When we perform any act, compromising on our ideal, the conscience feels uneasy. This suffocation of our veracity is the guilt. Guilt is an emotional experience just like happiness, sadness, anger or kindness. But it is possible to shelve this sinking experience of the conscience and thereafter live in peace eternally. PERSONAL CODE OF ETHICS To save ourselves the agonizing feeling of guilt, the simplest way is to set our principles so low that they never seem to be compromised. But this easy solution is not recommendable because intellectually we are on a much higher plane than the animals and should not retrograde ourselves to their level. The feeling of guilt is subjective, depending upon ones values in life. While one may have moral compunction on killing of a tiny insect, the other may not feel an iota of regret on murdering a fellow human being. But there are certain commandments against adultery, stealing, killing, etc which are common in all religions and for all individuals irrespective of their personal code of ethics. If we are even below these basic commandments then we are mere seed-bulls. JUDGEMENT OF ACTION In our lifetime we are invariably faced with the dilemma of choosing between right and wrong. How do we decide if an action is going to stifle our conscience or revitalize the soul? Motive is one criterion to judge our acts. Intention behind the act lends it the colour of black or white. When a philanthropist constructs a charitable hospital in expectation of public glory and acclaim, his donation ceases to be charity. His selfish motive changes the nature of his otherwise good deed. But motive alone does not determine the sanctity of an action. Means applied to further the motive are of equal import. The proponents of Robin Hood, the fictional character who believed in Rob Peter to pay Paul, justify his acts to shadow their own guilt. Swami Chinmayananda explains that Robin Hood did not distribute he looted and distributed. His motive lost its character because of the militant means he employed to fulfill his cause. Motive and means are interrelated because motive- the values you uphold in life, determine the quality of thoughts; the quality of thoughts determine in turn the quality of actions. CAUSE OF GUILT The cardinal question still remains what forces us to indulge in actions that cause guilt and heartache? The inevitable answer is GREED. The insatiable avarice of the senses captures even the wise unawares. Man is a round the clock production house of desires. As one desire is satisfied the other rises. We are blessed with the senses because God wanted us to enjoy the beauty and charms of His majestic creation. But leaving the senses without reins in the marathon of desires has cataclysmic results. Our eyes gaze beautiful forms, tongue savours good taste, skin demands comforting softness. The senses are doing their natural course while seeking the pleasure, but unrestrained gluttony of sensual gratification is uncalled for. No religion preaches renouncement of the world and its pleasures. Self-denial of the senses is unnatural and not to be followed. When we suppress our natural instincts, there is a growing frustration and curiosity. And as they say, curiosity kills the cat, the quashed desires suddenly erupt like a volcano and cause debauchery which later leads to a tormenting conscience. Our preceptors said, Enjoy the world, but let not the world enjoy you. However, our greed for wealth, luxury and carnal gratification is ever increasing. The sybaritic behavior has caused pervasive decadence. Our desire for instant happiness blinds us to the remorse we shall experience in the long term. Letting our senses overpower our intellect will sooner or later only result in nothing but compunction. A robber robs because he has cupidity for money. As long as he evades the cops he does not bother about the wrong. Though he is always aware that stealing is wrong, he does not feel guilty because the negative consequences of doing it escape his mind. But the day he is caught and incarcerated for lifetime he wails, Why did I do it? FEAR OF PENALTY Is it only the fear of punishment that can keep our greed under check? Like they Spare the rod and spoil the child. If this being true, the robber would never experience guilt pangs if he were never caught. But sooner than later our Eternal Father does justice to all. It does not imply that He is a merciless God who believes in an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. He is a well of love and compassion, an embodiment of forgiveness and mercy. But he shall be ignorant and nave who mistakes his forgiveness for His weakness. When we commit an iniquity and are honestly repenting, we take solace in Gods love and ask for forgiveness. Asking for forgiveness entails a tacit promise to God that I shall not repeat the unworthy act. When the heart is overcome by guilt of your misdeed, the plea for mercy makes its way straight to the Gods heart. And the magnanimous God is bound to give you another chance. But if you break the sacred oath and repeat the wrong, it simply means you never felt guilty for your acts and the greed of senses still dominates you. Fear not God, for He is love But fear is wrath, if you ashamed his love MODERATION IS THE SOLUTION The sure way to free the conscience from the distress of guilt is to learn contentment. MODERATION is the sure shot way to shelve guilt and live without greed of materialism and fear of retribution. An absolute and abrupt denial of worldly pleasures leads to rancor and cynicism in life, however incessant indulgence in temporal pleasures can pull a man down to the nadir animalism. Temperateness in character gives a tranquil mind and a calm body, which connects, readily to the ever-ecstatic soul. Free the mind of greed and fear, and it loosens the conscience from the claws of guilt. A liberated soul is a harbinger of joy untold. http://www.mindbodynsoul.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Prince_Chugh http://EzineArticles.com/?Why-Have-Guilt?-Shelve-It!-Live-Without-Fear-and-Greed&id=94863 ambien drugstorecom ambien cost low ambien prosecution zolpidem entzug

Ultra Light Fishing - I Bet you Don't Know What that is!
by mitsuko ladymon - Sunday, 16 March 2008, 07:55 PM
Anyone in the world

By John Wilkins So you think you have done ultra-light fishing- I bet you haven't. I say that because
of my trip to the World Championships of fishing in Coimbra, Portugal where I
learned the true meaning of ultralight. When I fished against 185 anglers from 37
different nations, I learned that ultralight meant line that is around 1/2 pound,
fishing a hook the size of an eyelash, using a bait the thickness of 2 eyelashes -
ultralight ! Ok, so you have not fished ultralight, I win the bet. When I fished in the World
Championships, I too thought a little 4' ultralight with 4 lb. test or wow, 2 lb. test
was the stealth way to fish. This was quickly dispelled as I fished local competitions
with 1 lb. fishing line and until my trip to Portugal, that was pretty stealthy. The competition in Portugal was vs. the top anglers in the world- guys that would
make our Bassmasters look like AmeteurMasters - (many of them). The fishing
competions there are intense with all 185 anglers lining the shores of this canal and
many using 42 foot poles with 1/2 lb. test line. The fish that were available to us
were pretty delicate feeders that eat very tiny organisms. Yes, there were larger fish
in the river, but those that were available in large numbers, were the smaller fish. World-level competitions are 3 hours long and are fished from shore where anglers
attempt to fill their keep nets (live fish bags that go down into the water) with as
much weight as possible. One spot to fish from, catch as many fish as you can to
build your weight. If these anglers tried to go just for big fish, the results would be
bad for most. When using ultralight hooks, we employed size 22 & size 24 hooks. Hook sizes get
smaller as the numbers go higher so to get an idea of how small this hook is- find
your largest eyelash. The hooks we used were a very thin wire and yes, they are very
delicate. Twice during my first 3 hours of World Championship competition, I broke
the point off of my hook and had to get a fresh hook and leader rigged up. A good
idea when you are catching a lot of fish- I had 36 the first day, change your hooks
often to keep them very sharp when using ultralight hooks. One of the major factors
in the hooks breaking was the tough beaks that the mullets had. Their jaws are built
for pinching and plucking bits of food from between rocks- The line was an entirely different story. When people say their line is as thin as
spider-web, they have never truly fished ultralight. The line we used was so thin
that one bump of the pole would snap it in half. The diameter of the line was .07
and your average 4 lb. line is .20 and falls outside of the ultralight category. This is
not to say that 4 lb. test is not light when dealing with cover, toothy fish or larger
fish, but for my money, .20 line is really thick line. Why the need for ultralight equipment so extreme? I wanted to go fly fishing. No,
not with a giant hairy fly, but an actual fly larva. Midge fly larva or "bloodworm" were
the key bait in our competition. I said earlier the hook was thinner than an eyelash,
the bait was not much more thick than an eyelash. These tiny red larvae are delicate
to put on the hook. While I didn't need a microscope- I did need to lean over and
get real close to put a couple on the hook. Getting the hook in without popping
their skin was key as a successful hookup meant that the bait would wiggle around
and the fish would respond. A midge fly larva looks much like a mosquito larva and
if you have never seen that- picture a half a pencil lead (ultralight). While the average angler will never experience ultralight fishing, out there lies many
tactics and techniques that are available to you. One thing I did learn was to not get
settled in with my fishing knowledge and to always keep looking for new ways to go
fishing. The one thing I did learn is that sometimes if you fish heavy, you may be
tipping off the fish. When I fish near home in Chicago, I now fish light and some of
my biggest fish caught including a 9 lb. walleye were taken on 3 lb. line and size 14
hook- ultralight. About The Author

Tips for Locating a New Vegetable Garden
by mitsuko ladymon - Wednesday, 12 March 2008, 07:33 PM
Anyone in the world

By J Ruppel The key to starting a new vegetable garden is the actual garden location. You can change many things about a garden, even upgrading the soil with compost and other amendments, but the location is something that you will have to live with. A successful garden will have several common elements: Convenient to the house: If the garden is too far removed, you won't be inclined to run out there to pick something fresh whenever the mood strikes. Additionally, if you are tilling or hauling in waste for the compost pile, you don't want to go a long way with your equipment. The same goes for hauling bags of fertilizer, flats of plants, or bales of peat moss to the vegetable garden. Finally, if you have to irrigate with the garden hose, you don't want to be dragging long sections of hose from the house. Screening: Depending on your individual gardening style, you may decide that it is better to shield the garden from view if you are not one that likes to keep it neat and tidy. If you plan to have an open compost pile near the garden that may be a concern as well. Sunlight: Obviously, to have a successful vegetable garden, you will need an adequate amount of sunlight. You should get at least 6 hours a day. Often this means you need a southern exposure. But take a look around, are there trees that will be growing to a height in the near future that will reduce this sunlight. Nearby trees and bushes: We worry a lot about weeds, but keep in mind the invasive root systems from trees and other large bushes. Spreading trees with shallow root systems like willows are to be avoided. We've had bushes like trumpet creepers and honeysuckle that can have very aggressive root systems as well. Drainage: Take advantage of the natural lay of the land to optimize your garden watering. But be careful to avoid low spots that can lead to puddling and pooling, which are major problems for growing almost all vegetables. Critters: Finally, depending on the local "pests", you may want to be able to shield the garden from attack. While birds can often get in almost anywhere, you may decide you want to fence the garden in to avoid visits from deer, raccoons, turtles, rabbits, or any other walking critters. A garden can be a wonderful pastime, paying off not only in fresh produce for your kitchen table, but in the connection with nature. Careful selection of your garden location will help to ensure that it is as rewarding as possible. Planning Your Teaching
by mitsuko ladymon - Sunday, 9 March 2008, 07:32 AM
Anyone in the world

By Christopher Byrnes Home schooling can be a lot of fun, especially for parents and children who are sick and tired of the traditional way of educating a person in a typical public or private school. However, it does not necessarily mean that when you opt to home school your children, you can do whatever you want to do and teach your child whatever you want to teach. Just like the typical method of teaching in schools, home schooling is also a process that parents should learn to understand in order to provide their children the best education that they could give. Therefore, for parents who have decided to home school their children and do not know how to prepare an overall plan in order to come up with the best structure in teaching their children, here is a list of some tips that you need to know: 1. Know your benefits It is important to know the benefits and the reasons why you opted to home school. If you know that you and your child can get more benefits in home schooling than the usual type of schooling, then it would be easier for you to pattern your teaching to the things that you and your child will both enjoy. 2. Create a goal and devise some motivations It would be better if you create your goals first. Try to identify what you want to achieve for your children and for yourself as well. In this way, you will be kept focused and inspired throughout the process. You have your goals as your guide in creating the necessary teaching approach that your children need. 3. Make a budget Most parents tend to think that since home schooling provides a cheaper means of educating their children, it's okay for them to buy the best books available even if it would cost them a lot. Indeed, home schooling materials are important in order to come up with the best teaching approach. However, it does not necessarily mean that you have to overindulge with the items. Try to set a budget for your home schooling program. There are many items on the Internet that could help you come up with the best strategies and methods without having to spend a lot of money. 4. Identify your child's capacity to learn and the way he learns things Although there are many home schooling programs and methods available on the market today, nothing can come close to perfection in providing your child the best education if you do not know how to employ the method to your child. You can only do this easily if you know the learning style of your child. It's best to identify the level of curiosity and interest of your child in order to come up with the best teaching approach that would motivate him or her to learn things. One of the reasons why most children do not excel in school is because the approach to their interest and level of curiosity is sometimes inappropriate. Hence, it's best to focus on this aspect. 5. Have constant communication with your children In this way, you will be able to identify the things that bother them most and the areas that need improvement. The problem with most parents is that they are so focused on providing their children the best education when in fact, the best education that they could give is when they learn to listen to their children's wants and from there provide them all the things that they need. Most parents tend to forget that the very essence of learning is based on what their children needs to know. Most parents have the propensity to push the things that they think would provide the best education for their children. In turn, the children end up miserable because there are things that they need, but were not provided simply because their parents failed to identify those things. The difference of teaching approach in home schooling compared to the usual method used in the typical school is that teaching should focus more on the child's individual interest, learning style, and the ability to understand everything he or she has to learn. It is only through this way that they can best master the things they need to learn in this world. FREE comprehensive guide to homeschooling. Click here to download it now! Funerals - Planning The Wake
by mitsuko ladymon - Saturday, 8 March 2008, 10:19 AM
Anyone in the world

By Michael Russell People do expect a wake for some reason, particularly if they've travelled some distance to be at a funeral. The wake needs to be appropriate to the deceased and also to those likely to attend the funeral. A few pounds behind the bar at your local pub might be fine if Great Uncle George was a regular there but might not go down so well if his one living sister is a tea-totaller. In an instance like this, you may have to have two wakes to satisfy everyone. If you have a large enough house and can face the preparations, you may want to invite everyone back to your place after the funeral. This can be problematical as you have no idea how many people will come, but if you are smart about the catering, all will be well. Standard funeral fare is sandwiches and savoury nibbles plus maybe some biscuits or cakes. You can make it as plain or exotic as you wish and can do a full buffet if you want to. Try to get some friends round to help you make sandwiches. Decide on a variety of fillings and set up a production line. This way will be quick and organised. Bear in mind that you may have vegetarians there so don't forget egg or cheese as well as ham and tuna. Savouries such as mini-quiches or pizzas and sausage rolls always go down well. Buy them ready made and frozen. That way, you can pop more in the oven as required and the rest won't go to waste if they're still frozen. To drink, some people will expect tea so get someone to man the teapot. Others will accept a small sherry and others still will use this gathering to pour as much beer or scotch down as they can get away with. Unlike a normal party, however, most people will only stay for a couple of drinks, so you don't have to buy up the whole off licence. On the other hand, if you can get a sale or return arrangement with your local shop, you can cover all eventualities and quantities. Make sure that you have plenty of cups, tea plates, paper napkins and glasses. If you don't want to cater at home, then a pub is an ideal venue. However, even if you're not asking for food, do forewarn the landlord. Rolling up with 20 or 30 people and expecting there to be sufficient bar staff on duty just isn't on. Actually, you may want to get the pub to provide some food. Again, sandwiches and savouries are a good idea, particularly to soak up alcohol. Ask the pub if they'll provide tea and coffee too as not everyone will want an alcoholic drink in the middle of the day. Follow these few simple rules and your loved one should have the send off that they envisaged. -------------------------------------------------------
